We are one of the largest community living organizations in Ontario providing services through a variety of programs in the Barrie, Orillia and surrounding areas. As an organization, we look for individuals who demonstrate initiative, collaboration, resilience and creative problem solving skills. 

We are recruiting for a full-time permanent Supports and Services Supervisor. As a member of the Accommodations team, the Supervisor will ensure the provision of high quality supports for people supported in the program based on the Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances principals and be a change champion promoting and ensuring the SCS philosophy and culture of support for each individual is followed. Supervisors are accountable for the performance of front line staff in ensuring quality supports and services are provided and maintained. The successful applicants will provide leadership and supervision to their staffing teams through coaching and mentoring and developing a positive/harmonious team environment. Responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all people supported, staff, students, volunteers and visitors and ensuring all staff are educated and accountable under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Internal Responsibility System.


  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in developmental services or a closely related field; and/or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
  • A minimum of 2 years full-time Supervisory experience is required;
  • Experience working in a social services environment or  in an accommodations program will be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership and supervisory principles in an ever changing environment, including effective delegation; motivation and development of staff; conflict resolution and crisis management;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including above average computer knowledge and skills;
  • Working knowledge of The Council on Quality and Leadership values and the proven ability to convert the Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances into operational practices at all sites;
  • Knowledge of the Quality Assurance Measures Act, Ministry of Labour regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Current valid certificates in First Aid/CPR and NVCI;
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transportation;
  • Must be prepared to work modified work day to include evenings and weekends and participate in a 24 hour day, seven days per week on-call system on a rotational basis;
  • Must be prepared to be present at assigned work locations for a minimum of 50% of their working time;

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES: (Not a complete list of duties)

  • Monitors programs and sites for provision of quality and dignity of supports being provided and ensuring effective timely responses to changing needs of individuals and works collaboratively with Accommodation Services Managers to ensure the services that individuals request are provided;
  • Ensures quality support documentation, including, but not limited to Individual Support Plans, Personalized Supports, Health, Safety and Financial Audits, Rights Assessments, etc., are completed on time;
  • Ensures staff support people in the establishment and maintenance of natural relationships apart from front line staff including community options, formal/informal volunteers and other natural support networks;
  • Provides ongoing formal supervision of staff including effective coaching, mentoring and leadership to the team to effect positive changes in attitude and performance; provide training and monitoring of all staff regarding legislative compliance requirements and acts including, but not limited to the Social Inclusion Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour, Fire Compliance Regulations, etc.;
  • Effective management of crisis situations and ability to successfully identify, analyze and problem solve;
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources regarding staffing needs, redeployment of staff, scheduling needs, applying provisions of the Collective agreement, etc;
  • Ensuring physical presence at assigned sites at a minimum of 50% of the time which will include evenings and weekends as well as participating in a 24 hour day, seven days per week on-call system on a rotational basis.
