We are presently accepting resumes for a full-time permanent EarlyON Child and Family Centre Indigenous Coordinator to work in our Pre-School Services Department. In this position you will support the inclusion of Indigenous-Metis families with children up to the age of 6 at EarlyON Child and Family main and satellite sites throughout Simcoe County. Work with community partners to identify gaps in service and methods of implementation to address identified needs. Provide cultural education and support to EarlyON Child and Family Centre staff and families. Create healthy working relationships, sharing of information and resources between Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations. This position works up to 37.5 hours per week.


  • diploma/Degree in Child and Family Studies or in a closely related field;
  • a minimum of two years full-time experience working with children 0-6 years of age and their families is required; experience working with families in the Indigenous community is required;
  • knowledge of and sensitivity towards the needs of Indigenous children and families;
  • bilingual in English and French for both oral and written communication is considered an asset;
  • general knowledge of indigenous-Metis mainstream community services and supports;
  • above average communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft office programs and knowledge of database applications;
  • proven ability to work as part of a team and/or independently;
  • must have current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • must be prepared to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program;
  • a valid class "G" driver's license and own reliable transportation is required; must be willing to travel through Simcoe County

Duties and Responsibilities: (including, but not limited to)

  • assist in the identification, development and ongoing support of family/child enrichment programs;
  • support positive parenting by providing appropriate and culturally sensitive parent education materials, workshops and model appropriate parent/child interaction;
  • promote healthy child development and age appropriate activities;
  • promote early identification of at risk infants and pre-schoolers and refer to appropriate services and supports;
  • maintain and distribute up-to-date literature outlining community services available;
  • identify gaps in service and make recommendations to enhance service;
  • knowledge and awareness of contemporary issues within Indigenous-Metis community;
  • promote cultural awareness training to staff throughout Simcoe County who work with Indigenous-Metis families;
  • Establish and maintain a regular schedule to visit all EarlyON Child Family Centre Main and Satellite sites throughout Simcoe County
  • promote good public relations by serving on committees and participating in community activities;
