We are recruiting for an Employment Support Services Coordinator, to assist individuals in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment commensurate with their interests and abilities and to provide on the job support to both individuals and employers. Increase employment capacity and employment partnerships and increase awareness of the importance and rewards of hiring people with intellectual disabilities. This position works in Barrie, Orillia and surrounding areas. This position works 37.5 hours per week and has an hourly rate of pay of $27.15. This is a contract position working 6 months from February 2019- August 2019.


  • degree or diploma in developmental services or a closely related field; or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
  • two years recent full time work experience working with youths and adults with intellectual disabilities; familiar with Person Centered Planning, Personal Outcome Measures and Outcome based practices;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills combined with good computer skills and experience in Microsoft office applications and database administration;
  • knowledgeable in the field of employment, employment legislation and employment trends and community resources;
  •  valid class "G" driver's licence and own reliable transportation is required to be used in the course of employment;
  • current valid certificates and a demonstrated proficiency in First Aid, C.P.R., and N.V.C.I. is required;
  • will be required to work flexible hours which will include working some evenings and weekends.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES: (Not a complete list of duties)

  •  provide time limited opportunities to explore competitive employment options; working directly with individuals in developing outcome based employment goals;
  • expand existing pool of prospective employers, develop partnerships with employers in sectors/regions currently under-represented;
  • utilize community resources that are available for all people looking for employment;
  • participate in an ongoing review of placements to ensure they are successful for the individual and the employer;
  • provide support as a job coach and identify workplace supports in conjunction with the employer;
  • develop strong and effective partnerships with a wide range of local community resources including local secondary schools, employment agencies, community services, volunteer organizations and others as necessary;
  • provide written documentation and statistical reports as required by community employment services providers and MCSS;
